The self-guided tour for those who are looking the place to relax with nature surroundings!
Hita prospered as Tenryo (direct controlled territory of Edo Shogunate) during the Edo period (1603-1868) and is a place that has been blessed with plentiful water for a long time. Amagase is a little onsen town located south-east part of Hita city, along Kusu river. Staying overnight at the ryokan surrounded by forest and the sound of the flowing river and waterfall would be one of the highlight of this tour.

Day 1 Fukuoka – Yufuin - Hita (Amagase onsen)

09:24am or 10:25am depart from Hakata to Yufuin by JR [Yufuin no Mori] trains (approx. 130 min.)
Enjoy strolling Yufuin onsen town and have a lunch.

15:50 depart Yufuin to Amagase by JR [Yufuin no Mori] Limited Express (approx. 40 min.)

Complimentary transfer service from Amagase station will be provided to the ryokan.
Enjoy staying in the ryokan located along the river and surrounded by greens.
Don’t forget to try variety of onsen bathes in this ryokan!

Day 2 Hita (Hita-Kotohira onsen)

Strolling around the ryokan in the morning could be fan and good for you.
Complimentary transfer service to Amagase station will be provided.
Your baggage will be transferred to the ryokan you are staying tonight.

Before departing from Amagase station, why not visit Sakura-daki waterfall which is located 10 min. on foot from the station.

11:24 Travel from Amagase to Hita by local train (approx. 15 min.)

Visit Mameda machi (town) on foot (approx. 15 min. from Hita station) to enjoy a stroll ‘Path of History’ and lunch in old town with traditional merchants’ houses and store houses.

House of Kusano Head Family (草野本家) is located in the entre of the town. It was built during Genroku period (1696) and the country's oldest merchant building in existence. It has been designated as an National Important Cultural Property.

The facility is only open four times a year for special occasions including ‘Hina-matsuri’ (Hina Doll Festival, mid Feb. – mid Mar.). Also this house said to be the birthplace of ‘Hina-matsuri’ which held nationwide in March.

After 15:00 Complimentary transfer service from Hita station to the ryokan can be arranged.

Enjoy the second relaxing night in another traditional ryokan with modern comfort.
Slightly different type of onsen from the previous ryokan can be also experienced tonight.
