Iki Island is one of hundreds islands in Nagasaki prefecture and located off the coast of Fukuoka city. Although it belong to Nagasaki prefecture, it is easily accessible by ferry or Jet Foil from Fukuoka (Hakata Bayside Port) and Karatsu (Saga Prefecture). The island attract visitors with beautiful sandy beaches, nature surroundings and fresh sea food including tasty ‘Uni’ sea urchins as well as Iki beef.
This island is also proud of its long history since Joumon period (14,000 – 3,000BCE!!!) and visitors feel it by the landscape of ‘Kofun (tumulus-ancient tomb)’ and more than hundreds of old shrines.

Day 1 - Fukuoka to Iki

Make your own way to Hakata Port (for domestic routes at Hakata Bayside Place)

Ikinokura ‘Shochu’ distillery (factory tour and tasting*Not for a driver!)
‘Shochu’ - Japanese traditional alcoholic beverage which contain less than 45% alcohol and distilled from barley here in Iki island. Different ingredients such as rice, buckwheat, sweet potato and more are used to make ‘Shochu’ in each area, mainly in Kyushu.
