Tashibu no Sho ‘Sennen no Kirameki (Twinkle of Millennium)’
3 November 2018 to 15 February 2019 (3 hours from sunset)

The popular light-up event, Tashibu no Sho ‘Sennen no Kirameki (Twinkle of Millennium)’ have been held again this year!

It is a spectacular setting with lights along the paddy fields which have been remained for thousands of years in the "Tashibu no Sho, Osaki area".

This ‘Rural landscape of Tashibu no Sho Osaki’ have been selected as one of 50 Important Cultural Landscapes by Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan and also part of ‘Kunisaki Peninsula Usa Integrated Forestry’ which have
been designated as one of 8 in Japan and 44 in the world, Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems.

At the end of Autumn, more than twice as many volunteers as local residents come up to Osaki Area for the annual big project.

Along the paddies which have been inherited by the generations for a thousand years, approximately 10,000 solar LED lights are placed one by one with cooperation.

After sunset and the sky darkened, each light will start to be lit one by one as if fireflies appears in winter.
It is very fantastic to see how spot of lights becomes lines, then and the lines change to a kind of art of light on the field.

You will also see the colour of lights change slowly from yellow to green and vise verse every 30 minutes.

During cold months, the peaceful countryside is surrounded by a warm and magnificent atmosphere.
